Ministers and the head of the government reported on their activities for the first year since their appointment.
Opening the meeting, in which all ministers reported separately on their activities in their fields, the head of the Government, Natalia Gavrilita, noted that this year was one of the most difficult in all the years of Moldova's independence. "In addition to the pandemic, we faced a sharp increase in energy prices and for 5 months we had to cope with the consequences of an unjust and unjustified war in the neighboring country. The world today is very different from the time we took over the country. And we have to call things by their proper names: it is very difficult for many people today, and we have limited leverages, because the numerous crises that we are facing exist all over the world, and affect, among others, countries that are much richer than Moldova. But the government did everything to diminish the impact of these challenges on our citizens," Gavrilita said. "When energy prices went up, we offered a package to compensate for the increase in tariffs and increased the size and number of beneficiaries of assistance during the cold season. When agrarians were in a difficult situation, we managed to partially compensate for excise taxes on diesel fuel and increase the subsidy fund by 60%. When producers lost markets, we achieved new quotas on exports of some categories of goods to the EU. When our customs were overloaded with trucks, we negotiated with the Romanian authorities and took joint measures to overcome this situation. When companies and workers were affected by sanitary and epidemiological restrictions, we provided a number of compensatory measures in the form of support for technical unemployment or downtime. Prime Minister stressed that despite having to act like firefighters all year around, the government managed to keep the country moving in the right direction," Prime Minister mentioned. "We managed to launch the justice reform, unlock foreign aid, and implement infrastructure projects and regional development projects. We have provided much more impressive funding for the development of Moldova’s cities and villages. We managed to reduce tariffs for some state services; citizens receive more reimbursable medicines. The state became partners of the business: through the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) the amount of grants for business has practically tripled and reached 340 million lei. And the main achievement - the status of EU candidate country received by Moldova reflects the restoration of diplomatic confidence in the country", stated Natalia Gavrilita. At the same time, she noted that the government is not detached from reality, including through open communication with citizens in the territories, and understands the difficulties which will have to be overcome in the future. In particular, she said that Moldova will have a difficult winter, for which the government is preparing right now, and so that citizens and businesses understand the government's plans, all ministers have reported separately on the situation and the plans in their areas of competence. Ministers reported on their activities for about 3.5 hours. Let us remind that Natalia Gavrilita's government was approved at the August 6, 2021 session of Parliament by the votes of 61 MPs of the Action and Solidarity party (PAS). // 08.08.2022 – InfoMarket
