
Monthly inflation in Moldova reached 2.21% in June 2022, annual inflation (over the last 12 months) - 31.83% and in January-June 2022 - 20.17%.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), monthly inflation reached 0.05% in June last year, annual inflation (over the last 12 months) - 3.16%, while in January-June 2021 inflation amounted to 3.86%. According to NBS, consumer prices in June 2022, compared to May 2022, rose by an average of 2.21%, against a background of rising food prices by 0.57%, non-food prices by 2.35%, as well as an increase in tariffs for services provided to the population by 4.31%. According to official statistics, in particular, in June 2022, compared to the previous month, a more pronounced increase in prices was observed for the following food products: sugar - by 6.5%, bread made of wheat flour - by 3.9%, fresh fruit - by 2.9% (in particular, citrus fruits - by 14.1%). At the same time, for the reporting period, prices for the following products went down: vegetables - 9.9% on average (in particular, cucumbers became 31.3% cheaper, tomatoes - 20.8%, cabbage - 19.9%), vegetable oil - 7.4%. As far as non-food products are concerned, in June 2022, compared to the previous month, prices for fuel and lubricants increased more significantly: by 9.3% (including gasoline and diesel fuel - about 9.3%). For services provided to the population in June 2022, compared to May 2022, prices/tariffs increased on average by 4.31%, with more pronounced increases in natural gas tariffs - by 22.7% and electricity tariffs - by 13.1%. Overall, in January-June 2022, inflation reached 20.17%, with food products prices rising by 21.5%, non-food products by 14.89%, and tariffs for services provided to the population by 25.97%.
