The Moldovan authorities are considering the possibility of full compensation of excises on diesel fuel used by agricultural producers in 2022.
This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova, Viorel Gherciu, speaking to the deputies of parliament in the context of considering the issue of a vote initiated by the opposition regarding the policies of the Ministry of Agriculture of Moldova. Viorel Gherciu recalled that earlier the government decided to allocate 200 million lei from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas to partially compensate for the excise tax on diesel fuel used by farmers in 2022. At the same time, it is planned to compensate 30% of the excise tax on diesel fuel. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted that the agricultural department has come up with an initiative to 100% compensation of excise taxes on diesel fuel, primarily for small and medium-sized agricultural producers, and the government will consider this proposal. Viorel Gherciu explained that at the first stage, 100% compensation of excises on diesel fuel is planned to be provided for micro and small agricultural producers owning up to 400 hectares of agricultural land, and after finding additional resources - for other farmers. The minister admitted that so far none of the farmers has received even 30% compensation for diesel fuel, the relevant applications have been received, but now the government is considering the possibility of 100% compensation of excises for diesel fuel for agricultural producers. Earlier it was reported that excise tax compensation for diesel fuel will be provided for farmers working both in crop and livestock production, and will be distributed based on the average consumption of diesel fuel required per 1 hectare of cultivated area, and based on the number of animals. The maximum amount of compensation per beneficiary will be 100 thousand lei. Compensation can be provided to officially registered agro-enterprises / peasant farms that legally own agricultural land, livestock or other farmland. // 16.06.2022 — InfoMarket
