The Moldovan authorities will take all necessary measures to maximize the acceleration of the process of customs clearance of goods and the passage of the border.
This was discussed during a government meeting on Wednesday, where Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilisa urged Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi to consider adopting new policies to streamline traffic at the border. She noted that there are problems with the capabilities of the Romanian side. Previously, negotiations were held with the Romanian prime minister and solutions were found, but the war in Ukraine led to a break in the usual chains of movement of goods, and now the flow of freight transport has doubled on the borders with Romania. Natalia Gavrilita reminded that there is a mechanism of "green corridors" and accelerated customs clearance of perishable goods, but perhaps there are some other solutions to solve problems. According to her, discussions on this topic will be continued with Romania, but the Moldovan side should also look at how the situation can be improved. The Prime Minister noted that the infrastructure development work at the border in Sculeni cannot go faster, there is no possibility to change something there, but perhaps customs clearance procedures should be carried out elsewhere. “We need to think about it, deal with it, because it greatly affects trade and economic results, affects budget revenues,” said Natalia Gavrilita. In turn, Dumitru Budianschi noted that all the necessary procedures, organizational measures will be taken as soon as possible so that there are no other restrictions other than infrastructural and capacity restrictions on the part of Romania, and all problems were resolved as soon as possible in order to improve the situation as much as possible. // 27.04.2022 — InfoMarket
