The EIB will provide Moldova with a loan of 150 million euros for the implementation of the Moldova Roads IV project.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu said the parties signed the relevant financing contract on March 31. "Moldova needs to get closer to the European Union through a people-oriented mobility strategy providing modern transport, quality roads and road safety. Our role is to implement these transformations in the country through the highest possible quality investments," the Deputy Prime Minister noted. As InfoMarket Agency has earlier reported, over 150 km of priority roads all over the country are to be restored, modernized and widened within the frames of a 150 million euros loan from the European Investment Bank. The following sections of roads are expected to be rehabilitated within the Moldova Roads IV project: M5 - border with Ukraine - Criva-Balti-Chisinau-Tiraspol - border with Ukraine, 133 km long (rehabilitation) - approximate cost of the works - 129 million euro; M2 - Chisinau ring road in sections 2 and 3, 17,35 km (extension up to 4 lanes) - approximate cost of works - 52 million euros; M3 Chisinau-Comrat-Giurgiulesti-Romanian border, section Cimislia bypass km 0+000 - km 7+200 (new construction) - approximate cost of works - 9 million euros. Feasibility studies and project documentation have already been worked out for the mentioned sections, so the procurement procedures for the works will be started as soon as the financing is approved.
