The contract for the purchase of electricity from the Moldovan HPP will be extended for only one month, until May 1, not for a year, as previously agreed.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu announced this, noting that the Moldovan HPP refused to sign a contract to extend the contract for the supply of electricity to the right bank of the Dniester for another year. “We have been negotiating with representatives of the Moldovan HPP to extend the contract at the same tariffs for another year. But with the start of the war in Ukraine, the situation changed, and they decided that the contract would only be extended for a month, until May 1. They cited the uncertainty with future gas supplies from Ukraine as the reason,” Andrei Spinu said. According to him, Chisinau will continue negotiations with representatives of the Moldovan HPP to discuss the possibility of returning to the decision taken before the start of the war to extend the contract for the supply of electricity at the previous tariff for one year. At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that by the end of the month, ANRE will set new electricity tariffs for end consumers, which will come into force on April 1. Andrei Spinu said that there would not be too much increase. In particular, there are no grounds for doubling tariffs. // 09.03.2022 – InfoMarket
