Prices for A-95 gasoline in Moldova reached a new record level, exceeding 23 lei per liter.
At the same time, the cost of diesel fuel without a commercial name approached 20 lei per liter. According to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), this was due to the fact that quotations on international exchanges reached a new high. In particular, during the sessions this week, the price of Brent crude crossed the threshold of $90 per barrel, thereby continuing the growth that began at the end of the last year. The same trend continues for Platts gasoline and diesel prices, which now trade at prices in excess of $840/t and $770/t, respectively, the highest levels in 7 years. According to ANRE, respectively, these values directly affect the final price of oil products imported to Moldova. This increase is observed in most countries of the region, including Romania, which is the main supplier of fuel for our country. Thus, based on the existing indicators, for the next 3 days (from 29 to 31 January) ANRE set the following maximum retail prices for the main standard oil products: gasoline AI 95 - 23.03 lei/liter (+0.09 lei, compared to the previous day) diesel fuel - 19.98 lei/liter (+0.08 lei). ANRE stated that it constantly monitors the activities of oil players and additionally assured consumers that the current pricing mechanism for the main standard oil products forms fair, transparent and easily verifiable prices. "They accurately reflect the situation on the international market both during the period of growth and during the period of falling quotations, excluding any possibility of oil companies interfering in the process through a possible unreasonable price increase," the ANRE said. // 28.01.2022 - InfoMarket
