The second tranche of the European Union's macro-financial assistance OMNIBUS in the amount of 50 million euros will go to Moldova in early October.
This was reported by the press service of the Moldovan government, noting that during a meeting in Brussels with the EU Commissioner for Economic Affairs Paolo Gentiloni, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita expressed gratitude for the support Moldova received under the OMNIBUS MFA program, and for the decision to transfer the second tranche of OMNIBUS assistance in the amount of 50 million euros, which will go to Moldova in early October. The parties discussed the need to move forward in the process of recovering money stolen as a result of bank fraud. In this context, the Prime Minister highlighted a firm commitment to investigate and recover these assets, while stressing that this requires functional justice. Natalia Gavrilita also asked European partners for help to strengthen sustainable mechanisms to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Moldova, including by introducing mechanisms for partial unemployment and technical unemployment, so that they can cope with problems during a pandemic. “The experience of countries that have applied such mechanisms to protect jobs will be very useful for our country. We are ready to take the necessary decisions to fully benefit from the implementation of the Economic Recovery Plan. We are confident that we will be able to implement a new program of macro-financial assistance from the EU with an increase in the grant component, ”said the prime minister. The parties also discussed reforms in the customs and tax areas. In this context, the Prime Minister of Moldova spoke in detail about the adoption of the Customs Code, which complies with the legislation of the European Union, which is one of the important conditions for deepening cooperation with the EU in the customs field. The new code is aimed at unification, modernization and optimization of customs legislation, as well as its adaptation to the obligations assumed by our country under the Association Agreement with the EU. // 27.09.2021 — InfoMarket.
