Moldovan government decided to allocate an additional 11.6 million lei to pay compensation under the Prima casă (First House) state program.
The funds will be allocated from the Government Reserve Fund. The state program stipulates that every year the government allocates funding from the state budget to cover monetary compensation to the beneficiaries of the Prima Casă program. For 2021, 70 million lei were allocated for the implementation of this program, including 50 million lei for the implementation of state guarantees under the program, and 20 million lei were allocated for compensation payments. At the same time, based on the budget executed for 7 months of 2021, the amount to cover compensation of beneficiaries was insufficient for further payments even to those beneficiaries who are already involved in the program. Thus, in January-July 2021, 27 million 257.63 thousand lei were allocated. In June 2021, due to insufficient funds to finance applications for compensation payments (for June-August 2021), an additional 9.5 million lei was allocated from the Government Reserve Fund, and later - another 2 million lei, which is enough to cover the period from June to August 2021. It is noted that from May 2021 to August 20, 2021, 742 applications were included in the waiting list. Thus, 5,250 beneficiaries will receive compensation in September.
