Such data are presented in the published Annual Review of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It follows from it that in 2016 the volume of EBRD investments in Moldova amounted to 86 million euros, in 2017 - 131 million euros, in 2018 - 23 million euros, in 2019 - 111 million euros, and in 2020 - 117 million euros. The volume of total EBRD investments in Moldova since the beginning of its activity in our country in various sectors of the economy at the end of 2020 amounted to 1 billion 391 million euros, while the active investment portfolio of the EBRD in Moldova at the end of the last year amounted to 613 million euros. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is the largest institutional investor in Moldova. To date, it has invested around 1.4 billion euros in more than 140 projects in the country to support private business and key infrastructure, and build a greener and more sustainable economy. The money was used to implement projects in finance, agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, processing industry and other areas in Moldova. Founded in 1991, the EBRD is headquartered in London and operates in nearly 40 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. Through investment, participation in policy reforms and consulting projects, the EBRD seeks to make these economies competitive, well-managed, green, inclusive, resilient and integrated. The EBRD invests in projects that have economic, social or environmental benefits but cannot be fully funded by commercial banks. The bank works primarily with private clients, but also finances state-owned enterprises that operate vital infrastructure and provide essential services. The EBRD is owned by 69 member countries, the European Union and the European Investment Bank. In 2020, the EBRD implemented 411 projects in total. The annual investment volume was 11 billion euros, which is a new record level (10% more than in 2019, also a record year). In March 2020, the EBRD was the first multilateral development bank to offer a package of economic support to countries to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and prepare for recovery from the pandemic. As part of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the EBRD signed 62 projects worth 1.6 billion euros as part of its resilience program. 12 projects worth 802 million euros were signed as part of the vital infrastructure support program. 2,090 trade deals worth 3.3 billion euros were completed under the Trade Facilitation Program. 744.5 million euros were provided for on-lending to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. 28.7 million euros have been allocated to financial partner organizations through programs to support women's entrepreneurship for subsequent lending to enterprises headed by women. // 22.06.2021 - InfoMarket.
