Moldovan Parliament fails to approve a new government to be headed by the Premier candidate Igor Grosu.
The MPs did not even start considering the program of this Cabinet. They haven’t either start discussing the issue of expressing a vote of confidence in the government at the plenary session on Thursday, since the MPs from the Party of Socialists, the SOR Party and the For Moldova parliamentary platform left the session, declaring their refusal to participate in these discussions. Therefore, the meeting could not continue due to the lack of a quorum, since there were only 43 MPs left in the hall. An hour break was announced. But, as Speaker Zinaida Greceanii said, the first issue on the agenda, concerning the vote of confidence in the government, has already been exhausted, and the MPs wouldn’t return to it even after the end of the break. It should be noted that the MPs from the PSRM, the SOR Party and the For Moldova parliamentary platform stated that they did not want to participate in the discussion of this government’s program, since they consider Igor Grosu to be a fake candidate participating in a political farce, being “cynically used by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in her political experiments”, while seeking earliest snap elections. They stressed that the last consultations of the President with parliamentary factions were imitated, and the head of state did not have a sincere interest in finding a candidate for the post of Prime Minister with the support of a majority in parliament, and Maia Sandu did not want to find a compromise. PSRM MPs said they would not participate in the show to discuss this government in a situation where the candidate for the post of Prime Minister Igor Grosu was formally nominated, not in order to lead the country, but in order to provoke snap elections. // 25.03.2021 - InfoMarket.
