
The Moldova-EU Subcommittee on Cooperation in the Economy and Other Sectors - Cluster I “Economic Dialogue, Public Financial Management, Statistics, Financial Services, Regulations on the Control and Fight against Fraud” held its 6th meeting.
The Ministry of Finance announced this, noting that the online meeting has discussed the macroeconomic situation, the reform of public finance management, the progress of reforms in the financial sector, external assistance, as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economic and social situation and measures to mitigate the pandemic impact. At the beginning of the event, the Moldovan side expressed gratitude to the European Union for the help and support granted in the difficult period that Moldova experienced in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and also provided information on the structure of the ongoing reforms in the field of public procurement in Moldova. Annika Eriksgård Melander, co-chair of the aforementioned subcommittee, noted the importance of this meeting and spoke about the support provided to Moldova, especially by allocating 100 million euros in macro-financial assistance to Omnibus, of which the first 50 million euros tranche was allocated, as well as the budget support program recently signed by both parties "COVID-19 Resilience Contract for the Republic of Moldova", which provides for the allocation of a15 million euros grant to our country to support those affected by the crisis caused by the pandemic.
