Scammers posing as representatives of the State Tax Service are spreading false messages via Viber, Telegram, and other platforms
According to the State Tax Service, the scammers, posing as agency employees, are sending notifications about alleged fines of 20,000 lei, citing unspecified legal provisions, and directing citizens to addresses unrelated to tax authorities. The messages also mention an alleged upcoming court summons to be delivered to the recipient’s place of residence. The agency emphasized that such messages have no connection to the State Tax Service, and the agency’s name is being used illegally. The State Tax Service also reminded the public that all communication with taxpayers regarding tax obligations is conducted exclusively through official channels, and recommended verifying information only on the State Tax Service’s official website and the agency’s official social media pages. // 24.03.2026 — InfoMarket.
