Moldova will have to speed up the digitalization of the tax system and prepare for transfer audits - TAXCON-2025

This was stated by Liviu Gheorghiu, partner of Forvis Mazars Romania, at the TAXCON conference in Chisinau. According to him, Moldova is at the initial stage of implementing transfer pricing rules and digitalization of the tax system. In the near future, companies will have to not only prepare transfer price reports, but also undergo an audit by tax authorities. In order to minimize disputes and avoid legal conflicts, businesses should already study international practice and prepare for new requirements in advance. The businessman emphasized that the successful implementation of digital tools in the tax sphere helps not only to simplify the work of companies, but also significantly reduce corruption risks. "When the selection of companies for inspection is made by a data-based system, and not by an individual inspector, this increases business confidence and ensures equal conditions for everyone," the expert said. He said that in Romania, similar processes began to be implemented more than 15 years ago, and today the digitalization of the tax service is actively underway there. Liviu Gheorghiu called on Moldova to move in this direction, but to do so gradually and in a balanced manner. He noted that in Ukraine, the hasty launch of the digital system led to numerous errors, due to which its work had to be temporarily suspended. The expert believes that Moldova must find a balance between creating an attractive investment climate and ensuring fair taxation. Romania's experience can serve as a reference, especially in matters of building a transparent transfer pricing control system, "which will be an important step towards integration into the European economic space."//11.09.20025 – InfoMarket.
