Tax liabilities paid under the Voluntary Tax Compliance Program increased by 15% over the year - the State Tax Service
According to the State Tax Service, the results of tax monitoring from June 2024 to June 2025 were analyzed at a meeting of the Committee on Risk Management of Tax Non-Compliance. During this period, tax authorities focused on entities from five priority areas included in the monitoring: wholesale and retail trade in goods, products, and materials; manufacturing; dental services; transport and logistics; and construction. These are industries in which risks of non-compliance with tax regulations have been identified. The State Tax Service sent 2,033 letters on the need to comply with tax legislation, held 693 individual meetings, and inspectors made 3,984 advisory visits. As a result of these activities, tax liabilities calculated in the national public budget for the audited taxpayers increased by 15% (+141.3 million lei), and the amount paid was even higher – 146.2 million lei. The share of taxes and fees calculated per 1 leu (MDL) of sales increased by 26%, and those paid increased by 24%. The budget arrears of companies included in the monitoring decreased by 13% (1.8 million lei). The State Tax Service urges taxpayers to comply with the law, declare their income correctly, and pay taxes on time. State Tax Service Director Olga Golban emphasized the importance of a proactive and balanced approach to managing the risk of non-compliance with tax requirements. According to her, the results obtained confirm the need for constant strict monitoring and active communication with taxpayers, and the priority remains to support voluntary compliance with tax requirements through preventive and educational measures and open dialogue with the business community. // 13.08.2025 – InfoMarket.
