The State Tax Service (STS) will provide assistance to economic agents who received the status of a large taxpayer for 2025-2026

According to the State Tax Service, in particular, the STS management held a meeting with economic agents included in the list of large taxpayers for 2025-2026 by the order of the STS of December 23, 2024. The meeting was attended by Director of the STS Olga Golban, Deputy Director Petru Griciuc, Head of the Department for servicing large taxpayers Veronica Marandici and Deputy Head of the Main Department of Taxes and Duties Methodology Igor Lazar. The Director of the State Tax Service expressed gratitude for the responsible activity of economic agents and high level of compliance with tax requirements with timely and full payment of respective obligations. She congratulated them on their new status of a major taxpayer, explaining what this change in their status means and what the new way of interaction will be. “The change of this status means that you have a position in the market, you have a team behind you that helps you, and together you manage to achieve certain turnovers, have a noticeable share of clients in the economic sector and, finally, pay taxes to the budget,” Olga Golban said. For his part, the Deputy Director of the STS, Petru Griciuc, confirmed that one of the main priorities of the tax authority is to educate taxpayers and provide quality advice through seminars organized by the tax authority, including information events organized with the support of Monitorul Fiscal (Tax Monitor), the Ministry of Finance and development partners. “In this sense, I want to assure you that we are and will always be at your disposal to support you in complying with the fiscal legislation and successfully fulfilling all your obligations to the budget. We are waiting and welcome your suggestions on training topics”, noted Petru Griciuc. Subsequently the meeting participants were informed about the role of large taxpayers in ensuring budget revenues, job creation and development of society as a whole, about the administration of this category by the State Tax Service, as well as the selection of criteria of large taxpayers. It was noted that large taxpayers, based on their activities, turnover and, accordingly, taxes and fees paid, significantly contribute to the formation of budget revenues. Voluntary compliance by large taxpayers is a priority for the tax authority. The importance of informing, preventing and minimizing cases of intentional or unintentional non-compliance was emphasized. Also, large economic agents-taxpayers were familiarized with the changes introduced in the fiscal policy for 2025 regarding income tax, value added tax, excise taxes and local taxes. In this context, a question and answer session on the application of tax legislation was also held, and the discussions were interactive. As previously reported, the list of large taxpayers for 2025-2026, published by the State Tax Service, includes 550 economic agents: all Moldovan banks, the largest non-bank credit organizations and insurance companies, the largest enterprises of the energy sector, manufacturing, trading and pharmaceutical companies, etc., as well as the largest taxpayers.
