Sports stamps are proposed to be introduced in Moldova along with food stamps.

A legislative initiative was registered in the Parliament to amend the Law on food stamps and the Tax Code, which provides for the introduction of sports vouchers. In particular, it is proposed that employers will be able to provide their employees with vouchers for sports - to be used as a payment tool in commercial sports facilities, which will conclude contracts with the operator for the provision of services. Sports vouchers will have the same legal force as food stamps; with their help the employer will be able to partially compensate employees for sports activities. At the same time, according to the draft law, the nominal amount of food coupons and sports coupons deductible for tax purposes per working day cannot exceed 2% of the guaranteed minimum wage in the real sector (80 lei per month with the guaranteed minimum wage of 4000 lei). Starting January 1, 2023, the deductible for tax purposes is the nominal value of one meal voucher for one working day from 35 to 70 lei. The proposed initiative is expected to encourage employees to exercise, and employers will be able to use food stamps as a staff motivation tool. According to a 2019 study by Magenta Consulting, about 37% of Moldovans sometimes exercise. Of these, 5% exercise monthly, 11% exercise weekly, and 20% exercise daily. Spending on sports is on average 485 lei per month, with men allocating more money for sports than women. // 14.02.2023 - InfoMarket
