According to the press service of the State Tax Service (STS), a batch of 705,910 packs of tobacco products was destroyed by burning at Lafarge Ciment Moldova in the presence of the Commission for the Destruction of Confiscated Goods. The Commission was composed of representatives of the STS, Customs Service, Interior Ministry, General Prosecutor's Office, National Anti-Corruption Center, Environmental Protection Agency and Environmental Inspectorate. Destroyed cigarettes are the result of criminal acts and were confiscated by the Customs Service in the current year. It is worth noting that on April 22, 2022, amendments to the Tobacco Control Act took effect, according to which tobacco products, similar products, devices and accessories for their use, refueling or heating produced, imported or sold in violation of the requirements of this law, are subject to confiscation as provided by law and subsequent destruction.
