From May 1, 2021, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products supplied to Transnistria are subject to consumer labeling.
The relevant amendments to the legislation were made as part of the tax policy for 2021, which was published on December 22 in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova). Alcoholic products and tobacco products imported into the territory of Moldova and intended for consumption in the territory not controlled by the constitutional authorities are subject to consumer labeling. Consumer brands will not be applied to fizzy and sparkling wines, cognacs in souvenir bottles with a capacity up to 0.25 liters and a capacity of 1.5 liters, 3 liters and 6 liters; alcoholic products with an ethyl alcohol content up to 7% by volume and beer; undenatured ethyl alcohol (headings 2207 and 2208), used for medical purposes. The procedure for acquiring, using and applying consumer stamps is the same as for excise stamps. The design of the “Consumer Brand” sign will be established by the Ministry of Finance. The distinctive labeling is expected to ensure the traceability of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages imported into the Transnistrian region and strengthen surveillance and control measures for excisable goods intended for use in Transnistrian territory. // 24.12.2020 - InfoMarket.
