During a government meeting on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Sergiu Puscuta said that 15 amendments were fully supported, and 33 were partially supported. Thus, the government supported the proposal to postpone the change in the VAT regime in agriculture from January 1 to July 1, 2021. In particular, the VAT rate on fertilizers and plant protection products will be reduced from 20% to 12%, while the VAT rate on the supply of agricultural products will be increased from 8% to 12%. The Cabinet also supported the proposal to provide a one-time allowance of 100 thousand lei to medical personnel who died as a result of infection with coronavirus in the workplace. This allowance will be allocated retroactively, the funds will be allocated from the government reserve fund. At the same time, the government has maintained its position on reducing the VAT rate for the HORECA sector from 15% to 12% starting January 1, 2021, as well as limiting the maximum level for local fees. The Cabinet did not support the initiative to provide tax incentives for duty-free shops, the proposal to abolish airport taxes, etc. At the discretion of the parliament, the government left the decision to reduce the non-taxable limit for international mail from 200 to 100 euros and other proposals.
