The National Road Administration announced that traffic for vehicles with a maximum authorized weight exceeding 12 metric tons is restricted on August 21 until 8:00 p.m. on national roads in the Briceni, Ocnița, Edineț, Dondușeni, Drochia, Rîșcani, and Soroca districts, as well as in the municipality of Bălți. The restrictions have been imposed in areas under an orange heat warning, where the maximum air temperature, according to meteorologists' forecasts, will reach +36 degrees. A yellow heat alert is in effect in the rest of the country: air temperatures will range from +33 to +35 degrees, so restrictions on heavy-duty vehicles do not apply there. The ban does not apply to passenger transport, the transport of perishable goods, medical equipment, live animals, and fuel, as well as emergency transport. The measure was introduced based on a joint order from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to protect road surfaces: at high temperatures, asphalt loses its strength, and the movement of heavy trucks can cause it to deform. // 21.08.2026 — InfoMarket.
