The number of passengers passing through Chișinău International Airport has grown from roughly 3.5 million to 6.5 million over the past three years, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, which has redirected traveler flows across the region.

The figures were cited by Gicu Răducan, CEO of Polaris Aviation Group, who uses them to explain the decision to launch a new air operator: "This evolution has generated much higher demand on the Moldovan market. National air operators account for roughly 60% of passenger traffic at Chișinău International Airport, while foreign carriers cover about 40%. There is enough room for competition. I want to state very clearly: there are absolutely no political ties in the Polaris company. There never have been, there are none now, and there never will be."

The spectacular growth in traffic makes the Moldovan market attractive to new players, at a time when demand exceeds the current supply of flights.
