The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection clarified that the start of registration on October 1—announced on Radio Moldova by the ministry's head, Natalia Plugaru—was the result of a mix-up. Preparations are currently underway for the compensation program for the upcoming heating season. As in previous years, registration will begin on November 2. All details regarding registration rules and eligible recipients will be announced later. It is worth noting that Natalia Plugaru also stated on the radio that this year, several criteria are being analyzed to identify households in greater need of support. At the same time, the verification of data in the applications submitted by citizens will be more thorough—applicants' declared income, assets, bank accounts, social benefits, and other data available in government databases will be checked. She also clarified that the government has not yet received confirmation from donors regarding the possibility of funding the compensation, but authorities are continuing negotiations on this issue. As a reminder, during the 2025–2026 heating season, 2.34 billion lei were allocated for compensation, and over the previous four heating seasons, the government allocated more than 11 billion lei to various mechanisms for compensating energy costs. // 16.09.2026 — InfoMarket.
