Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi made this statement during a phone call with Slovenia’s new Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tone Kajzer. Both ministers spoke highly of the dialogue between Moldova and Slovenia and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Mihai Popșoi thanked Slovenia for its continued support of Moldova’s European path and for its support of an enlargement policy based on an assessment of each candidate country’s progress. In turn, Tone Kajzer congratulated Moldova on the start of negotiations on Cluster 1, “Core Values,” and Cluster 6, “External Relations.” At the same time, he reaffirmed Slovenia’s support for the continuation of our country’s European integration process and for the implementation of the reforms necessary for EU accession. During the discussions, Mihai Popșoi emphasized Moldova’s interest in developing bilateral economic relations, including through the resumption of the Moldovan-Slovenian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the expansion of cooperation in the field of tourism.
