The administration of the capital's airport reported this, clarifying that the procurement procedure has not been canceled, but only the previous schedule will be revised in order to address the shortcomings identified by the National Dispute Resolution Authority. As noted, last year Chișinău Airport surpassed the 5 million passenger mark for the first time and ended the year with more than 6 million passengers. This more than twofold increase in passenger traffic over two years (2025 compared to 2023) exceeds the airport's actual capacity. Expanding the airport is a critical necessity, which is why several rounds of tenders have been organized. It is emphasized that, given such rates of passenger traffic growth and the need to ensure passenger comfort, flight safety, and increased capacity to accommodate new tourist and economic flows, the airport's goal is to implement the project quickly, while strictly complying with legislation and managing finances responsibly. The latest tender was announced on May 7, with a deadline for submissions on June 19; four companies participated. On July 31, the company that offered the lowest price was announced as the winner. Subsequently, on August 10, two of the four participating companies filed complaints, and the National Dispute Resolution Authority (ANSC) issued a ruling on September 7 regarding the appeals filed against the results of the procurement procedure for the reconstruction, partial remodeling, and expansion of the airport terminal, and ordered the annulment of the decision awarding Contract No. 140/D/2026 dated July 31 and to re-evaluate the bid of the economic operator previously selected as the winner of the tender. The Chișinău Airport Administration noted that it had taken the ANSC decision into account. "The airport has taken note of the ANSC decision, and in accordance with the corrective measures set forth in the decision, the airport's working group must re-evaluate the bid, taking into account the conclusions outlined, and complete the procedure in accordance with applicable legal provisions," the agency clarified. The statement from the capital's airport administration notes that the working group will comply with the requirements set forth in the ANSC decision and address the two issues identified in the decision. "First, we will ask the winning bidder to extend the validity period of the bank guarantee, since ANSC identified as a problem the fact that the bidder demonstrated possession of a bank guarantee valid through October 16, whereas it was required to be valid through October 17," the Chișinău Airport administration noted. Second, the airport's working group will re-evaluate the bid and examine liquidity indicators not only separately for the winning bidder but also taking into account the partnership it declared with another company with which it is collaborating to carry out the work.
