Prime Minister Vasile Tofan made this statement during a phone call with his Dutch counterpart, Rob Jetten. The discussion focused on Moldova's progress toward European Union accession and the development of bilateral economic cooperation. The head of the Moldovan government emphasized Moldova's interest in attracting more Dutch investment and in establishing closer ties between companies from the two countries. According to the Moldovan prime minister, the strong relations and shared views of the two countries should be translated into concrete projects and new opportunities for the business community and citizens. Vasile Tofan also mentioned his personal ties to the Netherlands, where he studied and worked. "The Netherlands holds a special place in my personal journey. We want to build on the excellent relations between our countries by increasing Dutch investment, fostering closer ties between companies, and ensuring strong cooperation as the Republic of Moldova moves toward EU accession," said Vasile Tofan. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Moldovan exports to the Netherlands in the first half of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, fell by 31.8% to 22.9 million euros, while Dutch imports to Moldova decreased by 4.4% to 50.7 million euros. As a result, Moldova's trade deficit with the Netherlands in January–June 2026 amounted to 27.8 million euros, which is 42.5% higher than a year earlier. // 09.09.2026 — InfoMarket
