Moldova's Parliament has increased the 2026 state budget deficit to 23.07 billion lei

The Moldovan Parliament approved, in the first reading, amendments to the 2026 state budget that significantly increase both revenue and expenditures, while also raising the deficit to a new level. The amendments provide for additional payments to public sector employees, increased transfers for social and infrastructure needs, and the reallocation of funds across a number of areas; meanwhile, ahead of the second reading, lawmakers have submitted several dozen more proposals, some of which have already received support.
