The prime minister made this statement during his visit to New York while appearing on the Fox News podcast hosted by Brian Kilmeade. During the interview, he discussed the economic opportunities our country offers, as well as the security situation in the region. "Moldova has a small domestic market, so our opportunity lies in becoming a country with the most favorable conditions for business, positioning ourselves as an export and trade hub for the entire region. That is precisely why we welcome investments with open arms," said Vasile Tofan. He also noted that Moldova could serve as a platform for Ukraine's future recovery, as well as a "gateway" to EU markets. "We are a candidate country for EU membership and hope to become full members of the European Union by 2030. Although our market is small, we are a flexible country with a regulatory environment that is much more business-friendly, providing access to the EU market, including for American companies. "I come from the private sector, and my plan is to focus first and foremost on the economy, business, and investment, rather than on politics," said Vasile Tofan. The prime minister thanked the U.S. for its direct contribution to Moldova's energy security. According to him, the U.S. administration will help Moldova build a power line connecting our country to Romania. "It allows us to import and export electricity, including to Ukraine. Our ambassador to the U.S. even called it the 'Trump Liberty Line,'" the Moldovan prime minister emphasized. // 28.09.2026 — InfoMarket
