Macroeconomy
• Moldova's current account deficit in the balance of payments amounted to EUR 806.2 million in the first quarter, down 17.1% year-on-year. Its ratio to GDP decreased by 5 percentage points to 20.9%, while the net financial account inflow reached EUR 641.7 million.
• From the beginning of the year through July 10, the State Tax Service collected 45.9 billion lei for the national public budget — 4.7 billion lei, or 11.3%, more year-on-year. Customs revenues since the beginning of the year totaled 21.87 billion lei, exceeding the target for the period by 3%.
• In the first quarter, services provided to the population grew by 17.4% year-on-year, retail trade by 7.8%, services provided to businesses by 4.6%, and wholesale trade by 1.8%.
Energy and Resources
• On OPEM's day-ahead electricity market, 1,113 MWh was sold, about 9.2% of average daily consumption. During peak solar generation hours, the price fell to around 1,000 lei/MWh, rising to 3,383 lei/MWh in the evening.
• Energocom is offering the remaining guarantees of origin for electricity generated from renewable sources between January 1 and April 30, 2026, for direct purchase. Applications from suppliers and companies are accepted through July 16; one guarantee corresponds to 1 MWh.
Foreign Economy and Trade
• Imports from the EU in January–April increased by 7.3% to EUR 1.886 billion, while the EU's share of total imports reached 56.04%. Imports from the CIS decreased by 4.5% to EUR 103.3 million, while supplies from Russia increased by 22% to EUR 76.6 million.
• The application deadline for BRIDGE Export has been extended to July 17. The program covers up to 60% of eligible costs, from 100,000 to 2 million lei per project; the current competition's budget is 8 million lei, and the program's total 2026 budget is 20 million lei.
Government Regulation
• The new deregulation package provides for amendments to more than 20 government regulations: pharmacies may be allowed to operate on floors other than the ground floor, the requirement for a separate office for the pharmacy manager may be abolished, along with a number of permitting procedures. For 1,863 pharmacies, eliminating the mandatory administrative premises could reduce costs by around 90 million lei annually; consultations are open through July 16.
• The Chisinau Municipal Council approved the 2026 budget with revenues of 9.6 billion lei, expenditures of 10.7 billion lei and a deficit of 1.2 billion lei. Transfers from the state budget are planned at 4.9 billion lei.
International Relations
• The EU will provide Moldova with an additional EUR 120 million from the European Peace Facility for a medium-range air defense system. Total assistance to Moldova under the facility since 2021 will reach EUR 317 million.
Investments and Projects
• Eurostil Construct was awarded a EUR 10 million contract for the energy rehabilitation of the Clinical Psychiatric Hospital; supervision worth EUR 573,000 will be carried out by EPTISA Romania. The overall project to modernize 10 national medical institutions is estimated at around EUR 76 million.
• The expansion of the Ceadir-Lunga business incubator, worth 38.47 million lei, will create up to 5,200 sq. m of new production space. The first phase is scheduled for completion by the end of July, and the entire project by the end of 2026.
Banks and Finance
• The Ministry of Finance opened subscriptions for government securities for individuals through eVMS.md until July 27: yields are 7.45% for one year, 7.55% for two years, 7.65% for three years and 7.85% for four years. The nominal value of one bond is 100 lei, with interest paid semi-annually.
• Moldova's international investment position at the end of the first quarter stood at EUR 6.6194 billion, down 3.7% since the beginning of the year. External financial assets reached EUR 7.3273 billion and liabilities EUR 13.9467 billion.
Agriculture
• Support for the agri-food sector in 2026–2030 is set at 18.9 billion lei: 2.7 billion for direct payments, 2.5 billion for sectoral interventions, and 13.7 billion for rural development, modernization, irrigation and value-added projects.
Business and Companies
• The National Lottery's net profit in 2025 rose by 19.3% to 290.6 million lei, while revenue increased by 28.7% to 13.25 billion lei. Contributions to the budget grew by 36.1% to 504.6 million lei.

• On July 14 at 2:00 p.m., the government will announce the results of the competition to finance university research infrastructure, with a total budget of EUR 9.25 million.
