The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization expressed this view while speaking at a plenary session of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister, which was attended by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, representatives of business associations, government agencies, and development partners. The discussion focused on improving the investment climate and measures to support entrepreneurship. In his remarks, the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization emphasized that economic policy should be based on market mechanisms rather than centralized decisions. "I firmly believe in market signals. Moldova, Romania, and many other Eastern European countries have endured the trauma of a centrally planned economy, where decisions were made 'from above' and there were no feedback mechanisms to identify mistakes. The result, obviously, was a multitude of misguided investments that ultimately proved ineffective. And that means poverty, underdevelopment, and missed opportunities. "However, what the European Union now requires of us—and what is also the path to development—is to pay more attention to market signals, supply, and demand," said Claudiu Năsui. During discussions with private-sector representatives, the main focus was on reducing administrative barriers, stimulating investment, and expanding export opportunities. The following were identified as key priorities: simplifying access to energy resources; improving the financing mechanisms of the Enterprise Development Organization; creating platforms and mechanisms to attract investment in startups; expanding export opportunities; developing customs and airport logistics infrastructure; ensuring access to the workforce for sectors with export potential; accelerating digitalization and simplifying the regulatory framework for the introduction of new digital products to modernize the economy and boost productivity; removing artificial barriers to remote work; developing the tourism industry, particularly medical tourism. // 12.10.2026 — InfoMarket
