Specifically, the leadership of the National Energy Regulatory Agency held a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund mission, who are visiting our country from October 21 to 28. According to the ANRE, discussions focused on recent developments in the energy sector, mechanisms for setting and adjusting regulated tariffs, as well as factors affecting the cost of purchasing natural gas and electricity. A key topic of the meeting was changes to the secondary regulatory framework and the application of international provisions and obligations pertaining to the energy sector, in the context of bringing national regulations into line with European requirements. ANRE representatives provided information on the factors that determined the recent adjustment of natural gas and heat tariffs, including trends in procurement costs and the reflection of accumulated tariff deviations in approved prices and tariffs. At the same time, the outlook for electricity prices was reviewed, taking into account changes in regional markets and rising procurement costs. The meeting also addressed the frequency of adjustments to regulated natural gas prices. Starting in 2027, amendments to the Natural Gas Act provide for quarterly price adjustments—a mechanism designed to ensure a more timely reflection of market changes and to limit the accumulation of tariff deviations. Discussions also focused on the impact of tariff changes on residential and non-residential consumers, as well as on monitoring the sector's development to ensure that the regulatory framework is applied in a transparent and predictable manner. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging information on the development of the energy sector and the regulatory mechanisms applied in Moldova. // 26.10.2026 — InfoMarket
