Moldova would like to take part in 2 major projects of the Three Seas Initiative: Rail-2-Sea and Via Carpathia.
This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu, who took part in the Three Seas Initiative summit held in Bucharest, at which Moldova became an associated partner of this structure. Andrei Spinu, together with President Maia Sandu, participated in discussions with the Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu and the President of the Senate Nicolae Ciuca. During the forum, addressing the participants in the session on transport, the Moldovan minister spoke about how Moldova can join the European Union through a modern and developed infrastructure. “We want our country to take part in 2 major projects of the Three Seas Initiative: Rail-2-Sea and Via Carpathia,” said Andrei Spinu. He emphasized the strategic importance of Moldova in the context of the war in Ukraine. “From transporting refugees to transporting grain, our country has provided exemplary assistance and support to Ukraine, further strengthening relations with its neighbors and directly with the European Union. And if Russia tries to build, at least at the level of an idea, a wall between East and West, we, together with Ukraine, should be on the right side of the wall. Our place and Ukraine’s place is in the European Union, and I am confident that with the support of our partners and friends we will get there,” the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development wrote on his social network page. Earlier, the governments of Romania and Poland signed an agreement to support the European transport corridors Rail-2-Sea and Via Carpathia. The declaration will also be signed by other European states through which the routes pass - Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia. The Rail-2-Sea project involves the construction of a railway line from Gdansk to Constanta, and Via Carpathia - the construction of a highway from north to south Europe through Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.// 07.09.2023 — InfoMarket
