
Romanian and German companies intend to expand their presence in Moldova.
This was announced by the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK România), which, as part of joint efforts to strengthen economic relations between Romania, Germany and Moldova, in cooperation with the German Committee for Eastern Europe and the Investment Agency of Moldova, organized a visit of businessmen to Chisinau from June 26 to 28. The main purpose of their visit was to strengthen economic cooperation between the three countries by facilitating contacts and partnerships with economic actors from Moldova. According to the AHK România, as a place for investments, Moldova has the advantage of its geographical location, free trade agreements and free economic zones. The delegation was made up of representatives of the German AHK România, German Committee for Eastern Europe, German Trade & Invest and 9 German and Romanian companies from the following fields: traffic safety, energy, gas distribution, business consulting, furniture manufacturing, IT, real estate consulting. Members of the delegation met with Dorin Recean, Prime Minister of Moldova, Vladimir Bolea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Victor Parlicov, Minister of Energy. CEO of AHK România, Sebastian Metz, moderated a roundtable attended by state secretaries of the Moldovan government, heads of government and investment agencies, the German Embassy in Moldova, German companies and associations for cooperation in various fields. "We want to intensify relations between Romania, Germany and Moldova. I am optimistic that political stability will continue and the economic relations between the three countries will become even closer in the spirit of the leitmotif that guides us this year "Strengthening Partnerships - Turn Challenges into Opportunities," Sebastian Metz said. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea said that the status of candidate country for EU accession, which will provide Moldova with harmonized legislation and a favorable market for agricultural production and processing in the coming years, are aspects that create profitable business opportunities in the country and instill confidence in investors that they are entering a safe market. The meeting with Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean discussed investment and business opportunities for economic development and the creation of additional jobs, and emphasized the need to intensify cooperation between Moldova and Germany in segments of mutual interest. "The Moldovan government creates attractive conditions for investors, focusing on debureaucratization and digitization of processes, providing tax incentives, increasing the productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises and improving infrastructure and logistics," said Dorin Recean. The program of the delegation also included visits to the Technical University of Moldova and to 4 German companies operating in Moldova. There were also many opportunities for personal and B2B interaction with local partners. The visit to Chisinau was a prelude to a Romanian-German business conference to be held September 28-29 in Berlin by AHK România in cooperation with the German Eastern European Committee with the support of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. High-level representatives of the German, Romanian and Moldovan governments as well as business people have been invited to the autumn conference. The aim of the event is to strengthen the economic ties between the three countries in the current difficult geopolitical situation. AHK România has an official mandate to intensify business relations between companies from Romania, Moldova and Germany, thus contributing to the economic development of the Republic of Moldova. In this context, since January 1, 2020, AHK România also operates a Competence Center for Moldova, which contributes to strengthening trilateral relations between companies from Romania, Moldova and Germany. AHK România is the official representative of the German economy in Romania. Founded in 2002, AHK România has over 580 member companies and offers companies an important platform for networking, exchange of information and experience.
