Opening the VIII Investment Forum, Bashkan Irina Vlah said that foreign investment is an important source of economic growth and helps create jobs. “For us, investment flows in infrastructure, agriculture and livestock, digital business, construction, healthcare and, of course, in all areas that could keep our youth at home are of great interest,” she said, inviting potential partners to study the investment proposal of the region. Irina Vlah also said that the authorities of the region are ready to provide stable conditions for investors and assured that in the current situation, when security risks are too high, Gagauzia will not become a source of instability in Moldova. The head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, delivered a welcoming speech to the forum participants. He noted that the European Union supports Moldova in its European integration, including the regions of the country, and is also one of the largest donors to Gagauzia. According to him, ATU Gagauzia has recently received about 12 million euros from the EU, including 5 million euros from the funds of the confidence building initiative. At the same time, the EU is the main partner of Gagauzia in terms of foreign trade. The US Ambassador to Moldova, Kent Logsdon, spoke about the US contribution to supporting Moldova and the ATU Gagauzia. According to him, over the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations with Moldova, the United States has invested more than $1.7 billion in our country. The wine and textile industries, ICT, digitalization, tourism, business development and export promotion, etc. receive support. All this creates new jobs and improves the living conditions of citizens.
