In March 2021, the monthly inflation in Moldova was 0.96%, the annual inflation (over the last 12 months) - 1.49%, and inflation in January-March of this year - 1.8%.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported this, noting that in March last year, the monthly inflation was 0.09%, inflation in January-March 2020 - 0.7%, and the annual inflation in March last year - 5.94%. As noted by the NBM, consumer prices in March 2021 increased by an average of 0.96%, compared to the previous month, against the background of an increase in prices for food products - by 1.56% and for non-food products - by 0.98%, as well as an increase in tariffs for services provided to the population - by 0.09%. According to official statistics, in particular, in March 2021, compared to the previous month, prices for the following food products increased: sunflower oil - by 7.2%, fresh vegetables - by 6.4% (in particular, cabbage - by 16.6%, root crops - by 6.9%, melons - by 6.4%, tomatoes - by 5.9%, cucumbers - by 5.7%, fresh mushrooms - by 5.5%, garlic - by 4.8%, onions - by 2.2%), potatoes - by 5.4%, fresh fruits - by 3.2% (in particular, grapes - by 6.9%, citrus - by 6%, pome fruit garden fruits - by 3.8%, exotic fruits - by 2.1%), wheat flour - by 1.9%, cereals - by 1.8%, fresh or frozen fish - by 1.3%, meat, semi-finished meat products and canned food - by 1.2% (in particular: pork - by 2.7%, lamb - by 1.3%, poultry - by 1%, beef - by 0.9%), semi-finished and finished meat products - by 0.8%, canned meat - by 0.4%. At the same time, in the reporting period, prices for the following products decreased: chicken eggs - by 5.7%, cottage cheese, frozen vegetables, cocoa and chocolate powder - by 0.1%. As far as non-food products are concerned, then in March 2021, compared to the previous month, prices rose more significantly in case of the following products: fuel - by 5% (in particular, liquefied gas in cylinders - by 7.4%, diesel fuel - by 7.3%, gasoline - by 7.2%, firewood - by 1.1%), information processing equipment, electrical appliances for personal hygiene, medicines, equipment for mobile telephony, detergents, small tools and various accessories, large equipment and gardening equipment, small mechanical household appliances, air conditioners, cigarettes - up to 1.7% increase. At the same time, in the same reporting month, coats, jackets, suits, sweaters for adults and children, winter shoes for adults and children, and charcoal fell slightly in price - up to 0.4%. Among the services provided to the population, in March 2021, compared to the previous month, prices for passenger air transport services increased by 1.7%.
