The EU expects further progress in the implementation of its technical assistance project "Support to the Government of Moldova in the identification and preparation of projects related to the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement."

This was discussed during the first meeting of the committee for overseeing the aforementioned EU technical assistance project, which took place at the Ministry of Finance. According to the financial department, the oversight committee consists of representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the EU Delegation to Moldova. The purpose of the first meeting was a general presentation of the planned activities and discussion of the progress made earlier in the framework of the project. The members of the committee were pleased with the good cooperation between the beneficiaries and the project team, as well as with the progress of the activities carried out in the initial stage of implementation. Gabriela Cuneva, Chair of the Project Oversight Committee, State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, stressed the importance of the project for improving the process of preparing state investment projects and managing foreign aid, which is important for both the Ministry of Finance and line ministries. Another state secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Tatiana Ivanicichina, noted the need to solve the problem of non-fulfillment of the planned budget allocations for capital investment projects. Gintautas Baranauskas, Co-Chair of the Project Oversight Committee, Deputy Head of the Operations Department of the EU Delegation to Moldova, emphasized that the project "Support to the Government of Moldova in identifying and preparing projects related to the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement" is one of the most important technical assistance projects in a critical moment for Moldova, and the EU wants to see the progress of the project in the subsequent period of its implementation. The next meeting of the oversight committee for the mentioned project is scheduled for the end of 2021. As InfoMarket reported earlier, the European Union will provide assistance to the Moldovan government within the framework of the technical assistance project "Support to the Moldovan government in identifying and preparing projects related to the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement". The contract worth 5 million 932 thousand euros will be implemented by a consortium of DT Global IDEV Europe, S.L. and Four Assist, selected following a tender conducted by the EU Delegation to Moldova. The project aims to strengthen the powers of national authorities in project preparation, while ensuring complementarity between the implementation of the Association Agreement and external assistance. In particular, the project will focus on the following components: strengthening the national aid coordination system; strengthening the capacity of the national aid coordination body to monitor ongoing projects and prioritize new investment projects; strengthening the capacity of national institutions to identify, formulate, manage, monitor and evaluate externally financed projects; development and implementation of a list of financially viable investment projects. The project will be implemented from September 1, 2020 for 5 years.// 16.03.2021 — InfoMarket.
