The net profit of the National Bank of Moldova in 2022 amounted to 2 billion 192.3 million lei, having increased 2 times compared to 2021 (1 billion 071.7 million lei)
This is evidenced by data published by the Central Bank on its financial statements for the past year. The materials note that at the same time, if in 2021 the profit of the NBM to be distributed (at the end of the year) amounted to 294.3 million lei, then in 2022 the total losses amounted to 500.5 million lei. This was due, among other things, to the fact that about 2 billion 686.5 million lei in 2022 was directed to cover losses from exchange rate differences from the revaluation of foreign currency reserves, while in 2021 this figure was equal to 778.4 million lei. In addition, another 6.3 million lei was allocated to cover losses from differences in the revaluation of valuable metals. According to the financial statements, in particular, the interest income of the NBM on short-term placements in 2022, compared to the previous year, increased by almost 19.5 times - from 19.3 million to 375.6 million lei. At the same time, interest income on securities increased 3.5 times - from 155.4 million to 545.1 million lei, while interest income on loans and REPOs (repurchase agreement) increased almost by 102 times - from 2.7 million to 274.6 million lei. According to the NBM, its total profit from transactions, exchange rate differences and revaluation of precious metals in 2022 amounted to 3 billion 342.3 million lei against the figure of 947.5 million lei a year earlier (an increase of 3.5 times). Losses from the revaluation of securities in 2022 amounted to 21.6 million lei against a profit of 2.54 million lei a year earlier. The costs associated with the depreciation of financial assets decreased over the year by 18% from 47.93 million lei to 39.3 million lei.// 31.05.2023 — InfoMarket
