The banking sector of Moldova after the reforms has become stronger, more stable, more transparent and more manageable - Octavian Armasu.

The President of the National Bank of Moldova stated this while speaking in Bucharest at the annual conference of the National Bank of Romania and the Academy of Economic Research. The second annual conference of the National Bank of Romania and the Academy of Economic Research was held in Bucharest under the motto "Navigating among overlapping crises". It discussed the most relevant topics: regional economic and financial prospects in the context of a sequence of shocks with an impact on the global economy, financial education, inequality and financial inclusion, strengthening relations between Moldova and Romania. In his welcoming speech, NBM President Octavian Armasu stressed the importance of a sustainable partnership between the central banks of Moldova and Romania during the regional and international crises and called for its strengthening, especially at a time when the Republic of Moldova became a candidate for EU membership. “Thanks to the reforms previously promoted by the National Bank of Moldova, including with the support of the National Bank of Romania, the banking sector of Moldova has become stronger, more stable, more transparent and better managed,” said Octavian Armasu. “Especially now, when there are no simple solutions to current global and regional problems, I believe that we can and indeed should work together to reduce the impact of crises and increase resilience,” the head of the NBM added. The conference was also attended by representatives of the Communications and Financial Education Department, as well as the Financial Stability Department of the NBM, who participated in discussion panels on macroeconomic developments and financial education. The National Bank of Moldova continues to receive consistent assistance from the National Bank of Romania, both to strengthen the capacity in the field of banking regulation and supervision, and to harmonize the relevant framework with EU requirements. During the meeting, the leadership of the National Bank of Romania confirmed its readiness to provide the NBM with institutional expertise in these areas.// 26.04.2023 — InfoMarket.
