
Money transfers from Russia to Moldova through banks in favor of individuals in December 2020 decreased by almost 16% compared to December 2019.
According to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), in particular, in December 2020 they amounted to $18.52 million (in US dollar terms), or 12.5% of the total, which is 15.6% less than in December of the previous year ($21.93 million) in monetary terms. Their share in the total volume decreased by 6.9 percentage points, since in December of the previous year their share amounted to 20.3% of the total volume. According to the NBM, as a result, in December 2020, in terms of the volume of money transfers to Moldova through banks in favor of individuals, the Russian Federation took only the 3rd place, and Israel was the leader for 12 months in a row. In particular, in December 2020, the mentioned transfers from Israel to Moldova amounted to $25.67 million in equivalent (17.4% of the total), having increased in monetary terms by 23.8%, compared to December 2019 ($20.74 million). The second place in terms of the volume of money transfers to Moldova through banks in favor of individuals in December 2020 was taken by Italy with an indicator of $20.48 million (13.9% of the total), and the third - Russia - $18.52 million (12.5% of the total volume). The top 5 leaders in terms of the volume of money transfers to Moldova through banks, in December 2020, also included the United Kingdom and Germany with the volume of transfers of $14.17 million (9.6% of the total) and $13.32 million (9.6 %), respectively.
