Moldova continues to make progress in its transition to a “green,” circular, and ESG-compliant economy – the Ministry of Economic Development
These areas were analyzed during the 2nd meeting of the Interministerial Working Group for Promoting the Development of the “Green” and Circular Economy and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) in 2026, which was attended by representatives of government agencies, development partners, and the business community. A draft report on green growth indicators for 2025, developed in accordance with the methodology of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, was presented at the meeting. The document highlights Moldova’s progress in the transition to a “green” and circular economy and serves as a basis for developing data-driven public policy. Natalia Selevestru, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, emphasized that the transition to a “green” and circular economy is a key factor in enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy and capitalizing on the opportunities offered by Moldova’s European path. “Through data-driven policies, inter-institutional cooperation, and the promotion of ESG principles in the business environment, we are laying the groundwork to support investment, innovation, and sustainable development. The role of government agencies is to provide clear rules, accessible tools, and practical support without creating an additional administrative burden for businesses,” she noted.
