Moldova's monetary base increased by 4.5 million lei (+0.005%) in September 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 83 billion 394.3 million lei
The National Bank of Moldova reported this, noting that it also decreased by 0.7% compared to September of the previous year. According to the NBM, in September 2025, the monetary base M0 (currency in circulation) amounted to 47 billion 792.3 million lei, a decrease of 0.4% compared to August 2025. At the same time, compared to September 2024, it increased by 12.2%. The M1 monetary base (currency in circulation and demand deposits in lei of residents) in September 2025 amounted to 100 billion 398.3 million lei, decreasing by 0.2% compared to August 2025, but increased by 9.7% compared to September 2024. The M2 monetary base (monetary aggregate M1, term deposits in lei of residents and money market instruments) in September 2025 amounted to 136 billion 120.7 million lei, which is 0.4% more than in August 2025 and 11.3% higher than in September of the previous year.
