Moldova will be exempted from paying financial contributions to EU programs.
This is stipulated by a relevant framework agreement between the Moldovan government and the European Commission on the application of suspension of Moldova's financial contributions. The document was signed on January 23 in Chisinau, and the Moldovan government approved its ratification at a meeting on Wednesday. Finance Minister Petru Rotaru said that the document stipulates that Moldova's annual financial contributions to the EU programs will be suspended for 2021-2027. This proposal was made by the European Commission in the context of the economic, financial and political consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine. It is planned that future agreements on Moldova's accession to EU programs may also be exempted from Moldova's financial contribution. The necessity to maintain the suspension of payments will be assessed annually by the European Commission on the basis of information provided by the Moldovan government. Currently, Moldova has concluded numerous agreements with the European Union to participate in a number of EU thematic programs, among which are: Fiscalis, Customs, Single Market Program, EU4Health, LIFE, Horizon Europe, Union Civil Protection Mechanism, and Connecting Europe Facility. Thus, Moldova can benefit from the financing of projects in many fields. // 14.02.2024 - InfoMarket.
