
The National Cybersecurity Agency and the National Innovation Institute of Cybersecurity, Cybercor, began operating in Moldova.
Their launch was announced during the first cybersecurity forum, which took place on Friday in Chisinau. The two new institutions will focus on ensuring a secure digital environment, protecting the critical infrastructure of the state and society from cyber attacks, and ensuring a high level of security for the IT networks and systems of public and private institutions. Speaking at the opening of the Moldova Cybersecurity Forum, Prime Minister Dorin Recean noted that cybersecurity is a priority for Moldova. “Now that we have digitized almost all services in our country, cyber security is becoming a very important aspect. The time has come for all of us - public sector workers, entrepreneurs, private sector workers, and citizens - to draw more and more attention to this aspect and invest more and more in cybersecurity,” the prime minister said. At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, Dumitru Alaiba, noted that Moldova needs a safe economy, and thanks to digitalization, government agencies ensure a high level of sustainability. The forum program covered a series of discussion panels with the participation of speakers from Moldova and other countries, the private and public sectors, as well as interactive sessions to discuss the most pressing issues related to cybersecurity. In particular, the security strategies of the countries of the region and ensuring cyber resilience during war, ensuring the security of critical infrastructure facilities, preventing cyber attacks, the role of artificial intelligence in ensuring cybersecurity, the use of new technologies in the education system and their role in training the younger generation and government employees, etc. are discussed. The event was organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Technical University of Moldova and Tekwill, with the support of USAID, Sweden, Great Britain and the EU Partnership Mission in Moldova and the e-Governance Academy. // 09.02.2024 – InfoMarket
