
About 70 entrepreneurs from 36 member companies of Amcham România have arrived on a business mission to Moldova.
The Moldovan-Romanian Business Forum, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova) in partnership with AmCham România and supported by the US Embassy in Moldova, is taking place in Chisinau on February 5. During the opening of the event, Head of AmCham Moldova, Alexandru Gozun, emphasized the importance of this event and the role of AmCham România partners in terms of stimulating, supporting and attracting foreign investments in Moldova. He also emphasized that there are already companies in Moldova that have started to test the country's investment potential and expressed hope that they will return home with a firm conviction that they deserve to expand investments in Moldova. For his part, AmCham România Head Cristian Sporis said that this meeting opens a series of business missions of AmCham România members in 2024. He stressed that Romanian businessmen highly appreciate their government's support for Moldova's European integration process, and the participation in the business forum confirms the willingness of businesses to back these efforts. "The launch of Moldova's EU accession negotiations creates positive preconditions for the development of Moldova's economy and investment climate. This is possible thanks to a series of important reforms in the justice sector, public administration, development of the rule of law. It also opens an optimistic horizon until 2030," he said, noting that Moldova's market offers opportunities for investments in ICT, energy, medicine, financial services. The reforms carried out to facilitate business, such as digitalization, debureaucratization, simplified access to capital for business growth, make Moldova more attractive for investments. Prime Minister Dorin Recean participated in one of the Forum's panels and presented Moldova's investment proposal. He spoke about the sectors prioritized to attract foreign investments, including energy, pharmaceuticals, electronics, information technologies, road and railway infrastructure, as well as the development of logistics hubs. Prime Minister said that Ukraine's recovery is already under discussion, and Moldova, its closest neighbor, can provide logistics hubs. He stressed that, to a large extent, thanks to the warring Ukraine, Moldova has peace, stability and security, as well as an investment potential. In his speech, Dorin Recean spoke about such investment platforms as free Economic Zones (FEZs) and Moldova IT Park, outlined the government's efforts to develop small and medium-sized businesses, mentioned the potential in the field of technologicalization of the industrial sector and training of specialists in this field, etc. During the Business Forum, discussions on topical issues are held, and in the afternoon, thematic round tables will be held, where entrepreneurs from the two countries and representatives of the public sector will be able to hold more substantive talks. // 05.02.2024 – InfoMarket
