The Service for the Prevention and Fight against Money Laundering (SPCSB) will establish the procedure for electronic identification and verification of customers.

SPCSB plans to regulate measures for identifying customers and verifying their identity using electronic means. The corresponding draft of the SPCSB instruction has been submitted for public consultations. The instruction covers 6 categories of subjects - individuals and legal entities, established in the Law on Prevention and Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism. In particular, the reporting units will be: real estate agents, including when they act as intermediaries in the rental of real estate, but only in relation to transactions for which the monthly rent exceeds 200 thousand lei; organizers of gambling; auditors, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs providing accounting services and consulting services on taxation issues as their main economic or professional activity; other individuals and legal entities selling goods (including individuals and legal entities dealing in precious metals and precious stones) in the amount of at least 200 thousand lei or its equivalent, only if payments are made in cash, regardless of whether transaction by one operation or several interconnected operations; individuals/legal entities engaged in trust activities (except for administrators of facultative pension funds and investment management companies, as well as lawyers, notaries, authorized managers, bailiffs and other representatives of free professions); persons who store, trade in works of art or act as intermediaries in the trade in works of art, including in the implementation of this activity by art galleries and auction houses, as well as residents in the FEZ, if the value of the transaction or related transactions/operations is 200 thousand lei or more.
