Prime Ministers of Moldova and Poland signed a joint statement, confirming, among other things, their intention to develop new tools to support SMEs.
In a joint statement of Dorin Recean and Mateusz Morawiecki, published by the government, the parties confirm their intention to strengthen intergovernmental Moldovan-Polish cooperation in various fields. The Polish side stated its permanent commitment to the development of civil society and market economy in Moldova. The sides took note of Moldova's security needs, in particular the cyber, public and informational security, and agreed to boost the defense cooperation. The Premiers also stated that there are opportunities for direct investments of Polish companies in the Moldovan economy in areas such as food and agricultural industry, digitalization and energy. "The Polish economic presence, along with other partners, should provide Moldova with the most modern technologies, full access to the European market, jobs and, above all, a decent and safe life for Moldovan citizens. We have agreed to develop new instruments, including in the field of SME financial support, which - along with the already existing ones - will contribute to strengthening our bilateral economic cooperation," the statement reads. The sides also welcomed the signing of three important documents during Mateusz Morawiecki's visit to Chisinau, as well as the Moldovan-Polish business forum organized during the visit, with the participation of about 50 companies from both countries: Memorandum of Understanding between Moldova's Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization and Poland's Ministry of Digital Affairs on cybersecurity; Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Energocom and Towarowa Giełda Energii (TGE); Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the State Enterprise Railways of Moldova (CFM) and the Polish Agency for Trade and Investment and the Polish Chamber of Railway Equipment Producers and Railway Service Providers. In the statement, Poland confirms its readiness to provide Moldova with political support and share its experience in the process of European integration. "We firmly believe that following a positive recommendation from the European Commission, a decision by the European Council in December 2023 to open accession negotiations with the EU as soon as possible will ensure the irreversibility of Moldova's European path and a long-term systemic push for reforms," the statement says. The document also outlines the cooperation of the two countries in the security sphere, the intention to support the dialogue in the process of peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian issue, the illegal aggression of Russia against Ukraine and the subsequent hybrid war against Moldova, etc. // 07.04.2023 – InfoMarket
