
Moldovan government approved documents on the organization and functioning of the Energy Ministry and on the restructuring of the Economy Ministry.
The Energy Ministry is a new central specialized body of public administration, a legal entity of public law. The new ministry will be responsible for seven areas: energy security, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, electricity, thermal energy and promotion of high efficiency cogeneration, natural gas and oil products and energy transition. The ministry will be headed by a minister and assisted by a secretary general of the ministry. The ministry will also have three state secretaries, each overseeing one of the ministry's departments: energy security, sustainable energy and strategic planning, digitalization and energy transition. The Energy Ministry of will be the founder of the state enterprise Moldelectrica, and it will also be in charge of the Energy Efficiency Agency, a public institution Consolidated Unit for Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects. The staff of the Energy Ministry will consist of 60 people, 17 of whom will come from the relevant departments of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development. The Ministry will need about 15.5 million lei to maintain it annually. At the same time, another decree introduced changes related to the reorganization of the Economy Ministry into the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization. The ministry's central apparatus is to be strengthened, including towards the European integration. The ministry's activity areas and its new structure were defined. The number of staff of the central office of the Ministry has been increased from 74 to 100 units. Four state secretaries and the secretary general of the government will work in the ministry. The annual expenses for salaries of the Ministry's employees after the restructuring will total about 21.6 million lei per year. // 07.03.2023 – InfoMarket
