Germany will provide Moldova with a grant of 40 million euros for the promotion of energy security among vulnerable groups.

The German embassy in Moldova has reported that this is provided for by the agreement signed on November 18 in Chisinau on financing energy security of vulnerable groups at the expense of the German grant for Moldova. The funds allocated to our country as part of German development cooperation were announced by the federal government at the 2nd meeting of the Moldova Support Platform this July in Bucharest. The mentioned funds will support Moldova in the realization of the governmental program Ajutor la contor. Under this program, the population will receive compensation in energy bills during the cold season from November 2022 to March 2023 from the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari said that Germany has always been by Moldova's side, supporting it in the most difficult situations. "Today, the German state reaffirms its support for our citizens through this non-refundable financial contribution, which will cover the cost of nearly all of the energy compensation for November. I thank Germany not only for this significant financial assistance, so important in these difficult times, but also for its unconditional support for the chosen path to European integration," he said. For her part, German Ambassador to Moldova Mragret Uebber noted that rising energy prices as a result of Russia's unprovoked and illegitimate war of aggression in Ukraine means that many households in Moldova have to pay a significant portion of their income for energy. "This is a huge burden for many households. We are happy to be with our Moldovan friends in these difficult times. With this 40 million euros, we are supporting the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, which helps especially households most in need. Germany will continue to support Moldova to overcome the current difficult situation and back the country on its path towards European integration," the German diplomat said. // 18.11.2022 – InfoMarket
