The CoES approved a number of measures to reduce energy consumption and prevent power outages in Moldova.
In particular, according to the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations, the administrations of public buildings and commercial structures were instructed to reduce the air temperature to 19°C, and after working hours - to 15°C in rooms where it is technically possible to regulate the temperature of the coolant. They are also advised to reduce the internal lighting of buildings by at least 30%, if possible, and where possible, turn it off as soon as the premises are empty. In addition, it is recommended to turn off the illumination of fountains, shop windows, decorative and advertising lighting, except for the lighting of firms during their work. In addition, during peak hours - from 07:00 to 11:00 and from 18:00 to 23:00 hours, the operation of escalators and mobile stairs will be suspended, except for those used to transport goods, as well as cases when this may affect the safety and health of citizens. It is also agreed that enterprises with an energy-intensive production process (electric furnaces, electric arc welding machines, electric melting plants) should organize their work schedule in such a way that the processes that use the largest part of the electricity are carried out outside the period 07:00-11:00 and 18:00 -23:00 hours. Water and sewer administrators will adjust the operation of the pumps so as to minimize the operation of the electricity consumption during the above hours and to maximize the potential of the available reservoirs. Central and local authorities are advised to explore the possibilities of reducing electricity consumption during peak hours, but in such a way that the shutdowns do not threaten the safety and health of citizens, turn off street lighting during the daytime (from 07:00 to 18:00), replace ordinary light bulbs with more energy efficient ones, LED type. Managers of residential buildings and other buildings with elevators are instructed to place a notice near the elevators stating that due to the risk of power outages during peak hours of electricity consumption, it is also recommended not to use the elevator from 07:00 to 11:00 and from 18:00 to 23:00 hours. Herewith, it is prohibited to mine crypto assets and import to Moldova specialized equipment for cryptocurrency mining, regardless of the place of residence of the importing economic agent.//25.10.2022 — InfoMarket.
