Moldova will increase the volume of electric power purchase from Romania to 235 MW in order to compensate the cut of electric power supply from the Moldovan HPP.
Andrei Spinu, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, has said in an interview to Moldovan mass media that Moldova bought 100 MW of electric energy from the neighboring country within the first stage, and subsequently - 135 MW. Now another 100 MW of electric energy will be imported from Romania, and the neighboring country will supply Moldova with 235 MW of total electric energy at a price of 450 RON/MWh (about 90 euros). Andrei Spinu also explained that Energocom is completing the registration process on the OPCOM platform (market operator in Romania) and will be able to additionally buy electricity from Romania during peak hours. "In addition, Moldova is connected to the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) and will be able to buy electricity from the European market," he said. At the same time, Deputy Prime Minister urged citizens to continue saving electric energy, especially during rush hours, when consumption volumes are high. As earlier reported, since October 14, Moldova has been buying 100 MW of electric energy from the Romanian company Hidroelectrica at a price of 450 RON/MWh, which is lower than the market price in Romania. It was reported that Moldova will buy from Romania 30% of the electricity our country needs, which it will no longer be able to receive from Ukraine due to the fact that it stopped exporting its electricity after damage to its energy facilities due to Russian missiles attacks. On Friday, the Transnistrian authorities announced plans to reduce electricity supplies to the right bank of the Dniester from October 24 due to a decrease in Russian gas supplies. In particular, it was noted that the Moldovcan HPP in the new conditions can provide only 27% of Moldova's electricity needs, instead of the traditional 70%. The Moldovan HPP supplies electricity to Moldova at a price of $62.5 per MWh. // 24.10.2022 - InfoMarket.
